What we check first

The ground comes first

Most walls that lean or fall fail because of water, not weight. Water builds up behind the wall and pushes. So every wall we build gets drainage behind it and a footing that suits the soil and the slope.

    Water that sits drowns roots and pushes walls over. We find where it runs before we build.

  2. 02 Soil

    Sand, clay or sandstone. It decides what grows, what drains and what a wall can sit on.

  3. 03 What's underground

    Pipes and cables are located before anyone digs. No burst water main on day one.

What people ask us

Does my wall need council approval?
Taller walls need an engineer or council approval. So can walls near a boundary or the house. We check before we start and tell you if yours does. The rules depend on your council, so it's worth checking with them too.
Why is my old wall leaning?
Usually water. When soil behind a wall gets wet, it gets heavy and pushes. With no drainage behind the wall, that push builds with every storm. Rotting sleepers and a shallow footing, the base the wall stands on, make it worse.
Will you take the old wall away?
Yes. The old wall is taken down and taken away as part of the job. Then the new one goes in with a footing to suit the soil and the height, and drainage and gravel behind it.
Can you build steps or garden beds into the wall?
Yes. Steps and garden beds can be built in where you want them. Tell us how you'd like to use the space and we'll plan the wall around it.
